A Derbyshire company which provides vital equipment to the mining industry has received two prestigious world-wide recognised awards for quality.

Engineering Service Products [UK] was presented with both the coveted ISO9002 and EECS , the Electrical Equipment Repair Licence Scheme standard on the same day. ISO9002 is the standard for quality assurance and the EECS Licence means that the company is a recognised and accepted repairer of hazardous area products and that the repaired products are fit for use in explosive atmospheres.

The awards were presented at the company's Ilkeston headquarters by Mr. Roger Turton, Quality Services Manager for the EECS. Mr. Turton said he was impressed by ESP's commitment to achieve. The company is a major supplier to the mining industry, and repairs, maintains and refurbishes electrical equipment for mines, tunnelling companies and quarries in this country and abroad, including Ireland, Hong Kong and Thailand. ESP is a supplier to RJB Mining and RJB's Technical Services Director, Mr. George Clamp, said ESP was to be commended - He said "By its commitment to quality and reliability ESP is worthy of congratulation. The award of an EECS Licence in conjunction with ISO 9002 is a public and visible demonstration of its application.I am certain that this will reinforce ESP's position within the market place. I offer my personal congratulations and wish them every success". ESP also repair electronic and electrical equipment for Hatfield Coal Company Limited. Mr. Dennis Ridley a director of the company said, "It's a credit that at a time when there is so much bad news for the mining industry that ESP has invested time and money ensuring it is equipped to carry out repairs to mining machinery to the highest possible standards into the new millennium".
